Batik Arrowhead Plant | Syngonium podophyllum 'Batik'
Syngonium Podophyllum, or Arrowhead Plant, is a member of the Araceae, and as such, is a cousin to the Philodendron. Native to Mexico and Central America, the Arrowhead plant will start off as an upright growing plant, but will begin to develop trailing, vining, or climbing growth with age.
(Including Nursery Pot)
4" Nursery Pot: 8" H x 6" W
Syngoniums prefer medium to bright filtered or indirect light. Species with brighter coloration will require higher sun to maintain their variegation. Direct sun should be avoided, as harsh light may bleach this plants foliage.
Water and Soil
Syngoniums like to dry out a bit between waterings, but should never be allowed to dry out completely. When the top layer (1-2") of soil begins to look and feel dry, this plant is ready for more water. If allowed to become too dry, the Arrowhead plant will not waste time becoming droopy and fatigued looking. However, a good drink of water should restore the plant and allow it to become upright again. A standard well-draining potting soil works well for Syngoniums.
Temperature and Humidity
Arrowhead plants prefer room temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees. Temperatures below 55 degrees may be damaging to this plants foliage, and should be avoided. These plants normally do well at standard household humidity levels, but will benefit from higher humidity. Dry or drafty areas such as in front of a heat/air vent should be avoided.
