Care Guide

Light

Birds Nest Ferns do best with medium, diffused light. Lighting extremes such as direct sunlight or dark corners should be avoided.

Water and Soil

Birds Nest Ferns do best with soil which stays evenly moist. As these plants are thicker leaved than many other types of ferns, they are better equipped to handle occasionally drying out. However it is best to ensure these plants are watered once the top 1-2" of soil becomes dry. Soggy or oversaturated soil must be avoided, as it can quickly cause root rot. A standard potting mix amended with perlite for drainage and peat moss for absorbency will be a good growing medium for this fern.

Temperature and Humidity

The Birds Nest Fern will do best in temperatures ranging from 70 to 80 degrees F. Moderate to high humidity is best. Increasing humidity can be achieved through a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular light misting.
