Care Guide

Light

The Lipstick plant thrives in bright indirect light. These plants can tolerate lower or medium light but will only bloom when provided with bright sun exposure.

Water and Soil

Lipstick plants are semi-succulent, and need their soil to dry out partially between watering. Water only when the top 1-2” of soil are dry. This plant tends to prefer more evenly moist soil during the growing season, while it can be allowed to dry out more between watering in the off season. An absorbent yet well draining medium is essential, and bark, perlite or lava rock can be added to soil to provide better drainage.

Temperature and Humidity

The lipstick plant does well in warm indoor temperatures ranging from 65 to 80 degrees F. Temperatures below 50 degrees F should be avoided as cold can be damaging to Lipstick’s foliage. This plant does not require added humidity, but will appreciate a bit of extra moisture in the air especially during summer and spring (growing) seasons.
