Care Guide
Light
These plants thrive in medium to bright filtered or indirect light. Direct light and dark corners should be avoided.
Water and Soil
Prefers a rich soil that is amended with peat moss and kept fairly moist during the growing season. During the winter these plants likes to dry out a little more between watering, however, water when the top 1” to 2” of soil is dry during the spring and summer. Dish Gardens typically do not have drainage holes in the pot so be careful to not over water or leave in standing water. These plants will not tolerate “wet feet”. Tilt the pot to drain if excess water is left.
Temperature and Humidity
These plants do well in warm indoor temperatures ranging from 60 to 80 degrees F. Temperatures below 50 degrees F should be avoided as these plants will not tolerate them. Misting your plants foliage between watering will promote larger leaves, however, the humidity of the average home will do.
What Else?
Be sure to trim up your plants occasionally to keep its shape. Remove any dead, discolored, damaged, or diseased leaves and stems using clean, sharp scissors.
