Majesty Palm | Ravenea rivularis | Large Floor Plant
The Majesty Palm is a slow growing palm which can reach close to 100 feet tall in its native environment. Although this palm is a popular houseplant, the number of Majesty Palms in the wild is on the decline. The Majesty Palm can be found in the wild in the humid, swampy regions of Madagascar. Because the regions in which these plants are found are surrounded by dry, arid deserts, the Majesty Palm has a very limited ability to spread, which is in part why these plants native population is under threat.
(Including Nursery Pot)
10" Nursery Pot: 40" H x 35" W
The Majesty Palm will do best in medium to bright indirect light. Extremes such as dark corners or direct, harsh afternoon sun should be avoided.
Water and Soil
The Majesty Palm likes evenly moist soil. Because this plant is also susceptible to overwatering, extra care should be taken to ensure the soil never becomes overly wet or water-logged. A good rule of thumb is to give water again once the top 1.5” of soil have dried. The Majesty Palm needs a well-draining potting soil. Amending your soil with perlite, bark, or lava rock can help create added drainage and root aeration.
Temperature and Humidity
Majesty Palms will do best at indoor temperatures ranging from 65 to 80 degrees. Palms love humidity, and the Majesty Palm is no exception. To provide your plant with extra humidity, consider adding a humidifier or pebble tray, or keeping your plant in a location which naturally has more moisture in the air, such as a bathroom or kitchen.
