Care Guide
Light
The Cast Iron plant prefers low to medium, filtered or indirect light. These plants will tolerate almost any light conditions, however, direct light must be avoided.
Water and Soil
This plant prefers to dry out by at least 50% in-between waterings. The Cast Iron plant will do well with a standard, well-draining potting soil. Adding perlite, bark, lava rock or pebbles to your growing medium will help to add drainage and soil aeration.
Temperature and Humidity
The Cast Iron plant is not picky about temperatures, and they can withstand pretty cold temperatures. However, when growing indoor plants, it is best to try to maintain a consistent environment. Temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees would be considered ideal. This plant is hardy when planted outdoors in USDA zones 6 to 11. While this plant would be very appreciative of moderate to high humidity, it does not require it.
