Pellionia repens is native to Southeast Asia, and is a member of the Nettle family, Urticaceae. This plants trailing growth habit is perfect for a pot, hanging basket, or terrarium. Its thickened, pink stems are a beautiful contrast to its leaves, which are likened to the color and patterning of a watermelon.

Pellionia repens thrives in medium to bright filtered or indirect light. Brighter light deepens and encourages the green and maroon coloration of this plants leaves. Avoid harsh, direct light, which can burn this plants leaves.
Water and Soil
Pellionia repens prefers rich soil that is amended with peat moss. Allow the top 2” or so of soil to dry between waterings.
Temperature and Humidity
Pellionia repens does well in average indoor temperatures ranging from 60 to 80 degrees F. While Pellionia repens does not require high humidity, this plant will still benefit from it. You can provide your plant with extra humidity by placing it next to a sink or in a bathroom, or giving it a pebble tray or humidifier.
