Rhaphidophora tetrasperma | 'Philodendron Minima'

$42.00 Regular price $49.00

Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is a member of the Aracaeae (or Aroid) family. Although some of the plants common names are a bit misleading ("Mini Monstera" or "Philodendron Ginny"), these plants belong to their own genus, Rhaphidophora. Native to south Thailand and Malaysia, Rhaphidophora loves bright sun and is a very fast grower given the proper conditions. These plants also like to climb, and will generally produce larger leaves if given something to cling to, such as a trellis.

Care Guide

Light

The Rhaphidophora tetrasperma loves light, and this plant would likely appreciate being placed in your brightest indoor exposure. This plant is not a candidate for a low light exposure. If your plant is producing small leaves without splits, and its stems become leggy between growth, this most likely means it is not getting enough light.

Water and Soil

Rhaphidophora will prefer to dry out about 25-35% between waterings. We suggest watering your plant once the top 1-2” of soil have dried. This plant does not mind drying out occasionally between waterings, but will reward a consistent watering schedule with much faster growth. A well draining soil is imperative, as Rhaphidophora does not like to become soggy or water-logged. We may suggest amending a standard potting mix with peat moss for absorbency and air flow, and perlite or bark for drainage.

Temperature and Humidity

Rhaphidophora tetrasperma prefer a warm, room-temperature setting between 65 and 85 degrees F. Temperatures below 60 may be damaging to this plants foliage, and should be avoided. Medium to high humidity is ideal, however this plant is fairly tolerant to a wide range of conditions once acclimated. Additional humidity can be provided through a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting.
