Care Guide

Light

While the Umbrella plant is accepting of lower light exposures, it will do best in medium to bright indirect light. Rotating your Umbrella plant often will help to encourage even growth.

Water and Soil

Schefflera plants will prefer to dry out partially between watering's, and we suggest waiting until the top layer of soil is dry before providing more water. These plants will do best with a well-draining soil. This can be achieved by amending a standard potting mix with perlite or bark for added drainage. Umbrella trees are vigorous growers which tend to develop extensive root systems, meaning they will benefit from being potted up every few years. Once the plant has reached the desired size for your space it can remain in its forever pot, receiving a new top dressing of its soil yearly.

Temperature and Humidity

This plant prefers a warm, room-temperature setting between 60 and 80 degrees F. Temperatures below 55 degrees may be damaging to this plants foliage, and should be avoided. The normal humidity of an average home is sufficinet for the Umbrella Tree. This plant will also appreciate added humidity, especially during the winter months. This can be provided with a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting.
