Scindapsus treubii 'moonlight'
Scindapsus treubii 'Moonlight' is an exceptionally well-known cultivar. Its attractive leaves are silvery-green, oval-shaped, and medium-sized. The tips of the leaves are darker green while the leaf base is lighter. These plants have a cascading growth habit and are thus perfect for hanging baskets or in small corners of a room where a larger plant cannot fit. They require moderate sunlight although they do not like direct sun all day long.
(Including Nursery Pot)
6" Nursery Pot: 10" H x 12" W
This plant thrives in medium to bright filtered or indirect light. Avoid direct sun as it will burn this plants leaves. If the plant starts to loose its variegation it typically needs more light than what it is receiving.
Water and Soil
Exotica likes to be kept evenly moist during the growing season. While this plant is one that can tolerate the occasional missed watering, its leaves will start to curl, letting you know when it is thirsty. Yellowing leaves at the base of the plant could mean that it is receiving too much water. Be sure your plants pot has proper drainage. Reduce watering during the winter months. Silver Satin prefers a peat moss rich potting soil that holds a bit more moisture.
Temperature and Humidity
This plant prefers room temperatures between 65 degrees F and 85 degrees F. Don't let temperatures drop below 60 degrees as this could damage the foliage. Silver Satin prefers medium to higher humidity levels making it perfect for a bathroom or kitchen. If it is placed in a room with average humidity it will appreciate the occasional misting.
Scindapsus is a trailing plant that prefers to climb on a piece of wood, drape over a pot, or cascade from a hanging basket. Trim stems to shape as needed. New plants can easily be propagated from cuttings.
